I have the honor to inform

you that I have, on the Queen's Birthday granted the Royal Pardon

to the Prisoner. James John Burke, who was convicted of Larceny and sentenced to Fifteen years transportation in November 1849- The Sentence passed on this prisoner was brought to Earl Grey's notice in Sir George Bonham's Despatch No 110 of 20th November 1849, with a recommendation that the fame should be commuted to

imprisonment for four years
